Our Cattle
At our ranch, we produce premium beef by crossing Highland cattle with primarily Hereford and some Angus genetics, combining the strengths of these breeds based on proven traits.
Highland cattle are known for their exceptional hardiness, ability to thrive on rough forage, and leaner meat with a distinctive, robust flavor — traits linked to their slower growth rate and efficient nutrient use.
Hereford cattle contribute strong maternal traits, efficient feed conversion, and well-documented carcass quality, including tenderness and consistent marbling.
Angus genetics are globally recognized for enhancing marbling, which improves tenderness, juiciness, and flavor, and they carry favorable alleles like the “Calpain” gene linked to meat tenderness.
Scientific studies indicate that crossbreeding these breeds can result in heterosis (hybrid vigor), improving growth rates, fertility, and overall animal health. The blend of genetics also optimizes fat distribution and muscle structure, enhancing eating quality while maintaining sustainable production on pasture-based systems. Our approach leverages these breed synergies to produce nutrient-dense, flavorful beef raised with a focus on regenerative agriculture and animal welfare.

In addition to their outstanding beef qualities, the breeds we use—Highland, Hereford, and Angus—are known for their calm and docile temperaments.
This ease of handling reduces stress for the animals during routine management and transportation, which is critical for animal welfare and also positively impacts meat quality. Lower stress levels in cattle are linked to improved tenderness, better color, and overall superior eating experience. Our focus on breeding and raising cattle with gentle dispositions ensures safer, more efficient handling on the ranch and results in high-quality beef for our customers.
